Conf. Call with Col. Grisha Yakubovich, Head of COGAT Civil Department

Click here for a transcript of the call

Israeli humanitarian efforts, aimed at mitigating the ongoing conflict\'s impact on the Gaza Strip\'s civilian population, have been consistently hampered by Hamas interference and active violence. The terror group has among other things bombed crossings used to provide aid and shelled Israeli field hospitals used by Palestinian civilians. Just hours ago, Egyptian security officials foiled a suicide bombing attempt at a border crossing used to provide goods and fuel to the Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile the IDF\'s division that oversees such efforts - the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) - has facilitated the transport of more than 800 trucks carrying supplies and medical aid into the Hamas-controlled territory and worked to repair damaged water, sewer, and electrical lines inside the area.

The Israel Project held a conference call on Thursday, at 10 a.m. EST with Col. Grisha Yakubovich, head of COGAT\'s civil department. Listen as Col. Yakubovich discusses humanitarian efforts in Gaza and COGAT\'s efforts to work with the international community.
