Gilad Shalit is an Israeli soldier who was captured by Hamas near the Kerem Shalom boarder crossing on June 25, 2006. He has been held at an unknown location in Gaza since then and Hamas has allowed him no contact with the International Committee of the Red Cross. June 25, 2011 will mark the fifth anniversary of Shalit's capture.
