A report published by the Israel Law Center late last week disclosed new evidence linking the British charity Oxfam with affiliates of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), potentially putting the U.K. NGO in violation of U.S. and European anti-terror legislation.
The discoveries came as the U.K. NGO was already scrambling to deal with the blowback from a Super Bowl incident that saw actress Scarlett Johansson cut her ties with the group over its calls to economically isolate Israeli Jews operating beyond Israel\'s 1949 armistice borders. They also came amid more general controversies that have seen several Western NGOs marred by their affiliation with fringe anti-Israel elements.
Nitsana Darshan-Leitner and Avi Leitner founded and continue to anchor the Israel Law Center, which has been at the center of several of these controversies. Listen in as The Israel Project hosts a conference call on Tuesday, February 25 with them, covering an array of issues revolving around the various ways that humanitarian aid ends up funding and supporting terror-linked organizations.
About The Speaker
For the past 12 years, Nitsana Darshan-Leitner has been leading the struggle to fight the Palestinian and Islamic terrorist organizations in the courtroom. As the director of the Israel-based civil rights group, Shurat HaDin – Israel Law Center – she is currently representing hundreds of terror victims in lawsuits and legal actions against Hamas, the Palestinian Authority, the PLO, Hizbollah, Iran, Syria, Egypt, North Korea, UBS, The Arab Bank, LCB and the Bank of China. The cases, being litigated in the Israeli, American, Canadian and European courts, allow the victims of terrorism to fight back.
Staffed by some of Israel\'s leading activist attorneys, including Avi Leitnet, Shurat HaDin follows the model of the Southern Poverty Law Center, the famed American civil right organization dedicated to bankrupting the K.K.K and other neo-Nazis groups in the US. Shurat HaDin specializes in tracking the assets and bank accounts of terror groups and legally obstructing and restraining their funds, and has become known by banks, legal organizations and outlaw regimes around the world as the leading authority and resource on stopping the movement of global terror financing. Shurat HaDin has already successfully recovered millions of dollars for the families of those killed and injured by Palestinian terrorism.
